Three Blue Devils Advance to CSGA Match Play
Mullen, Josephson and Szewczul advance to round of 32
Three golfers with Central Connecticut ties have advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2014 Connecticut Amateur Championship. The Round of 32 feature match play after all three qualified in the top-32 of stroke play. The Tournament is being played at the Lake of Isles Country Club.
STROKE PLAY RESULTS
Current Blue Devil Monte Mullen, coming off a spectacular junior season at CCSU, is the seventh seed after shooting 147 (+3) in the two rounds of stroke play.
Former CCSU standout Kevin Josephson hot 151 (+7) and is the 16th seed.
The top performer with Central ties is former standout, accomplished champion and CCSU Hall of Famer Dave Szewczul, who shot 145 and is the second seed. Szewczul is the owner of multiple CSGA Senior Golf Championships and has won five-straight CSGA Senior Player of the Year awards. He currently leads the 2014 standings for the same award. He won the CSGA Player of the Year Award in 2012.
