Senior among 200 nationally to earn honor
Senior Matthew DeJohn capped his outstanding CCSU golf career by being named a Cleveland Golf/Srizon All-America Scholar on Wednesday. DeJohn was an All-Conference selection in his senior season for the Blue Devils.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Earlier this spring DeJohn was named All-NEC Second Team after taking home medalist honors in a shootout versus Bryant in a final tune-up before the NEC Championship. DeJohn averaged a 75.1 per round score this season. He helped lead the Blue Devils to a third place finish in the NEC Championship this spring.
DeJohn also finished first at the FDU Intercollegiate shooting 146 (75-71) to lead all scorers. It was one of five top-10 finishes on the year for the senior. He finished tied for 11th place at the NEC Championships to end the season.
