Men's Golf 10th at VCU Shootout After Two Rounds
Blue Devils led by Mullen's Day One 150
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in 10th place after the first two rounds at the VCU Shootout in Manakin-Sabot, VA. The tournament is being played at the Hermitage Country Club.
Central shot a first round total of 301 and sat in eighth place after the morning's first round. Senior Matthew DeJohn led the way with a +1 score of 73, followed by freshman Nick Direda (75, +3) and then junior Monte Mullen (76, +4). Freshman Matt Hills shot a 77 (+5) followed by sophomore Connor Murphy's 84 (+12).
Playing as an individual freshman Jack Ayers shot 77 (+5) in the first round, and followed that up with 79 in round two for a total of 156, good for a tie for 61st place.
The Blue Devils shot 312 in the second round, and currently sit in 10th place with a 613 after the first day of action. They sit just one shot out of ninth place.
After two rounds it's Mullen leading the way for CCSU with a 150, good for a tie for 39th place. He shot a team-best 74 in the afternoon round. Hills sits at 152 after a 75 in the second round, he is tied for 45th place. DeJohn shot a second round 80, and is tied for 51st place at 153. Direda shot 83 and is in 66th place, followed by Murphy who shot an 85 and sits in 77th place.
Virginia Tech leads the tournament with a two round score of 567, followed by Iowa State (569), Richmond (580), Radford (582) and VCU (586).
