Senior Matthew DeJohn sits in a tie for second place overall (+2) as the Central Connecticut men's golf team is in fourth place out of 16 teams after the first round of the Lafayette Invitational on Sunday.

The Blue Devils posted a team score of 305 on day one, good for a score of +21 and fourth place after the first round. The tournament is being played at the par-71 Silver Creek Country Club. The course is 6,635 yards long. Longwood sits in first place after a 300, followed by Hofstra (303), Lehigh (304) and then the Blue Devils. Canisius is fifth, followed by Drexel, Bucknell, Villanova, Rider and Momounth round oout the top-10.
DeJohn's 71 puts his in a three-way tie for second place. Hofstra's David Mecca is in first with a 72. Freshman Nick Direda is tied for fifth place overall (+3) after a day one 74. Junior Monte Mullen is tied for 35th after a 78, good for +7. Freshman Matt Hills shot an 80 and is tied for 55th place overall. The final team scorer for the Blue Devils is Bryant Bolden who shot an 83 and is tied for 79th place. Playing as an individual freshman Matt Mahlke also shot an 83.
The second and final round will be played on Monday morning.
