Men's Golf 3rd of 14 After Two Rounds at Turning Stone
Blue Devils are +6 after two rounds, final round on Monday
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits at +6 after the first two rounds of the Turning Stone Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Central shot a blistering 283 in the first round, and sat only two shots back of tournament leader and host Missouri.
The Blue Devils shot 299 in the second round and are 19 shots off the lead, but only two shots back of second place McNeese State.
The final round of the tournament will be played on Monday.
Freshman Nick Direda sits in fifth place overall after shooting -2 through the first 36 holes. He shot a round one 70 and a round two 72. He is just six shots off the lead.
Teammates Matt Hills and Monte Mullen are tied for 13th place at +1. Hills shot a 67-78 while Mullen went 74-71. Hills is a sophomore while Mullen is entering his junior season in New Britain.
Senior Matthew DeJohn shot 72-79 and sits tied for 36th at 151. Sophomore Connor Murphy shot 79-78 and is tied for 53rd.
Playing as an individual, freshman Bryant Bolden shot 76-86 and is tied for 66th overall.
Central's 283 in the first round is the third-best round of the tournament, behind the 281 and 282 posted by Missouri. At 582 they sit just two shots behind McNeese State and six shots ahead of Cleveland State who is fourth. Connecticut, Binghamton, Detroit, Loyola (Chicago), George Mason and LaSalle round out the top-10.
The final round will begin on Monday at 8 a.m.
