Men's Golf in Seventh After Round One of NECs
Round Two is Sunday in Daytona Beach, FL
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in seventh place after the first round of the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday afternoon. The tournament is being played at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL. Friday's round was washed out and the tournament was cut to a 36-hole championship, beginning on Saturday.
The tournament will end on Sunday with the final round.
RD1 RESULTS
As a team the Blue Devils shot 313 in round one on Saturday.
Freshman Bryant Bolden led the Blue Devils with a +5 score of 77 on the par-72 course. Senior Matthew DeJohn and junior Monte Mullen each posted rounds of +6, 78. Freshman Nick Direda fired a +8 score of 80, and freshman Matt Hills shot +9, 81 for the Blue Devils.
Bryant University leads the tournament after the first round with a score of 287. Ryan Tombs fired a 67 to lead all golfers on Saturday.
Fairleigh Dickinson (299) is second, followed by LIU Brooklyn (305), St. Francis U (306) and Robert Morris (309) round out the top five. Sacred Heart (312) is sixth, followed by Central (313), Wagner (315) and St. Francis Brooklyn (343). The Blue Devils sit just eight shots out of third place and 14 back of second.
The second and final round of the tournament will take place on Sunday morning.
