Men's Golf Fifth After Round One at FDU
DeJohn seventh after round one
The Central Connecticut men's golf teeam sits in fifth place out of 14 teams after the first round of the FDU Knights Invitational. The tournament will complete with the second round on Monday. Senior Matthew DeJohn, who had the top finish for the Blue Devils last week, shot a 75 and sits in seventh place overall.
The tournament was played in windy conditions through the day. It is being held at Crystal Springs Country Club in Hamburg, NJ. Crystal Springs in rated as one of the most difficult 35 courses in the entire country.
DeJohn shot 39-36 to place the Blue Devils. Junior Monte Mullen and freshman Nick Direda each shot 80 and are tied for 24th place. Freshman Matt Hills shot 82 and sophomore Connor Murphy fired an 85.
The Blue Devils shot a team score of 317, 17 strokes back of tournament leader Binghamton but only 4 shots out of third place.
Second round action will take place on Monday.
