800 Free Relay Opens 2023 Swimming and Diving Championship
Blue Devils within a second of school record in opening event
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team began the 2023 Northeast Conference championship with a second-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay. The Blue Devils swam a time of 7:25.79, just shy of a second off of the school record.
Katie Czulewicz also nearly set a school mark with her leadoff swim, splitting 1:48.47, 0.11 seconds off of the mark held by Christine Rasile (1:48.76 - 2016). Abbey Keane, Shannon Welcome and Megan Dunnigan swam the next three legs of the relay, earning 34 points for the team standings.
The first full day of competition begins Wednesday morning, with preliminary heats getting underway at 10:00 am.
