Swimming & Diving Announces 2022-23 Schedule
10-event slate is highlighted by a December appearance at the Open Water National Championship, a return to the US Open and six dual meets, all in preparation for the 2023 Northeast Conference Championship.
Central Connecticut head swimming and diving coach Bill Ball announced the Blue Devils 2022-23 schedule Tuesday morning. The 10-event slate is highlighted by a December appearance at the Open Water National Championship, a return to the US Open and six dual meets, all in preparation for the 2023 Northeast Conference Championship.
"We build our schedule with an eye towards our ultimate goals; an NEC Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Championship and the CSCAA National Invitational Championship in March," said Ball, now in his 21st season at the helm of the Blue Devils. "We look to challenge ourselves with some of the top competition in New England, and that schedule prepares us to swim fast at the end of the year."
The 2023 NEC Championship will once again be held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH, from February 21-25. The Blue Devils have won five NEC Championships and finished as the runners-up the past three seasons.
The Blue Devils will once again attend the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, March 9-11 in Elkhart, IN. Last season, CCSU travelled just four competitors and finished 31st.
NCAA Zone Diving will be held March 6-11 and the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship, hosted by the University of Tennessee is schedule for March 15-18.
October 7-8, 2022 at Fairfield Invite, Fairfield, CT
- The two-day Fairfield invite opens the 2022-23 campaign, with diving Friday night and swimming competitions on Saturday
October 22, 2022 vs. Stonehill, New Britain, CT
- Stonehill, the newest member of the NEC, will be the Blue Devils home opening meet at The Jack Suydam Natatorium
- The meet marks the first competition between the two squads
October 28-29, 2022 vs. New Hampshire, New Britain, CT
- New Hampshire visits Suydam Natatorium for a two-day dual
- UNH won its 10th America East swimming and diving title all-time last year and has won three times since 2018
November 6, 2022 at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY
- Stony Brook is on the slate for a dual meet this season, after capturing first place at the Blue Devil Invite
- The Seawolves, who were not allowed to compete at the America East Championship, finished sixth at the ECAC Championship last season
November 30 – December 3, at US Open, Greensboro, NC
- Cassidy Stotler will represent CCSU at what is annually one of the elite international swim meets
December 2-3, at 2022 Connecticut Cup, Middletown, CT
- Championship style competition, condensed into a 24-hour span, that is intended to prepare the Blue Devils the NEC Championship
December 18 at CSCAA Open Water National Championship, hosted by FIU Miami, FL
- The Blue Devils are taking part in the open water national championship for the first time in program history
- The event is open to NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA student-athletes and team and individual champions will be awarded
January 20-21 at Sacred Heart, New Britain, CT & Milford, CT
- A two-day dual with NEC opponent Sacred Heart is the first competition of 2023, with the Friday events ay Suydam and Saturday competition at McCann Natatorium
- CCSU has defeated SHU in three straight dual meets and have never placed behind them in NEC Championship competition
January 27, at UConn, Storrs, CT
- The Huskies, the 2022 Big East Championship runners-up, are the final road dual of the season
January 28, vs Rhode Island, New Britain, CT
- CCSU will honor its Senior Class prior to the final dual meet of the season
