Blue Devils Finish 13th At CSCAA Open Water Championship
Abbey Keane was teams top individual finisher
Four members of the CCSU swimming and diving team competed Sunday at the CSCAA Open Water National Championship in Miami, FL, combining for a 13th place team finish. The race was a 5K in Biscayne Bay, and was composed of 21 women's teams and 110 athletes.
The Blue Devils were paced by a 40th place finish by Abbey Keane who crossed the line in a time of 1:01:48.19. Katie Czulewicz was right behind her, crossing at 1:01:52.22, in 41st place. Taylor DeMarest and Shannon Welcome also placed back-to-back for CCSU. Demarest crossed in 90th place at 1:05.16.84, and Welcome was 91st at 1:05:24.28.
The Blue Devils team time was 3:08.59, a combination of the top three individual finishers.
CCSU turns its attention to training, over the next several weeks in preperation for the 2023 Northeast Conference Champioionship. The Blue Devils are next in competition on January 20 when they host Sacred Heart.
