
Blake And Company Named NEC Men's Indoor Coaching Staff Of The Year
Central Connecticut State has been named the Men's Indoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Northeast Conference announced that Central Connecticut State has been named the Men's Indoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year. Under the direction of head coach Eric Blake, the Blue Devils captured the 2025 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championship, the program's third conference championship and first since 2018.
Blake and his staff were recognized as the staff of the year for the third time on the men's side. Honored along with Blake, are associate head coach Nicole Dumpson-Jackson (CCSU Hall of Fame Class of 2024), Amanda Powlen, Stanley Elysee, Emily Fedor, Tyler Raymond, Alex Norstrom, Logan Moore and Ed Williams
CCSU wracked up a meet record 179 points to capture the NEC crown, paced by Greyson Golda and Samuel Whittaker. Golda, was named the Rookie of the Meet and earned Outstanding Field Performer - Throws, as the only competor to score in both throws events at the championship. Golda took silver in both the shotp ut and weight throw. Whittaker was named Most Outstanding Runner - Distance as he defended his 3000m championship and took silver in the mil and the 5000m.
The Blue Devils earned majority of their points in the track at this winter's indoor meet, claiming three gold medals and four silver in the distance events along with taking home a pair of golds and a bronze in the sprints. CCSU also earned gold medals in both relays to end the meet. In the throws, CCSU notched two second place finishes and a bronze medal
Blake was honored as the NEC Coach of the Year for both cross country programs in the fall and has been named track and field or cross country Coach of the Year 25 times during his tenure with the Blue Devils.
The Coaching Staff of the Year award winners were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches. In addition, the conference officially named the men's and women's All-NEC first and second teams were announced, along with the All-Rookie squads. The men's team had 15 honorees on the All-Conference teams.
