Phillip, 4x4 Relay Earn Wins For Men's Track & Field
Phillip won the 400m and led the winning 4x400m relay team
The Central Connecticut State men's indoor track and field team was in action at the URI Invitational on Saturday at Mackal Field House in Kingston, RI. The Blue Devils return to action next weekend at the Dr. Sander Invitational
- KyMoy Phillip captured the top spot in the 400m, running 50.29
- Aiden Budge was the runner-up in the 800m, with a final time of 1:57.24, while Tyler Safstrom stopped the clock at 2:01.31, good for eighth place
- Jayden Brown (51.76) and Cole Robertson (52.11) finished eighth and 10th in the 400m
- Jacob Ireland ran to a fourth-place finish in the mile, crossing at 4:18.43, while James Sullivan placed 10th at 4:24.30
- Bryan Elliott jumped 13.36m to place fourth in the triple jump
- Greyson Golda was the top finisher, fifth, for the Blue Devil shot putters, throwing 14.96m in his final throw
- Tristan Smith was seventh in the shot, with a 14.46m effort and Quincy Davis rounded out the three in the top-nine spots, with a 13.83m effort
- Samual Whittaker was seventh fastest in the 1000m, crossing at 2:30.12, with Yankarlos Diaz nineth at 2:32.49
- Golda (15.71m) and Nicholas Xavier (15.18m) finished ninth and 10th for the Blue Devils in the weight throw
- Lucas Figuieredo placed ninth in the 500m race, finishing at 1:07.82
- Kyle Wimbush cleared 1.90m in high jump, finishing 10th overall
- Phillip (50.87), Figuieredo (51.00), Cole Robertson (51.68) and Brown (50.66) captured the top spot in the 4x400 relay, running 3:24.20
- Ireland (1:59.51), Ryan McCauley (1:58.08), Whittaker (1:57.64) and Budge (1:56.50) finished runners-up in the 4x800 relay, with a time of 7:51.71, 0.13 from the gold
- Keith Townsend (55.26), Kenny Agwu (52.76), Jordan Jackson (54.38) and Safstrom (54.83) finished at 3:37.21 for eighth in the 4x400 relay
