
Ireland Named Track Athlete of the Week
Ireland posted the top 800m time in the conference on Saturday.
Central Connecticut State senior Jacob Ireland was named the Northeast Conference Track Athlete of The Week on Tuesday. He was also named an NEC Prime Performer and was joined by Greyson Golda and Alissa Hurd.
Ireland, a native of East Hampton, CT, posted the NEC's top time this indoor season in the 800m, He ran 1:52.05 at the BU Scarlet & White Invitational on Saturday, in the final tune-up before the NEC Championships.
Golda posted the league's third longest weight throw of the year, at the URI Coaches Invitational, with a throw of 16.78m. Hurd won the high jump at URI as the only competitor clearing 1.64m
The Blue Devils track and field teams now turn their attention to the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The two-day event is set for Sunday and Monday, February 16-17th at Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY.
