
Men's Indoor Track & Field Has Strong Showings At BU And URI
Blue Devils have four top three finishes on Saturday
The Central Connecticut State men's indoor track and field team competed at two events on Saturday. The Blue Devils were at the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University, and the URI Coaches Invitational in Kingston, RI.
The Blue Devils return to action next weekend at the Northeast Conference Indoor Championship at Ocean Breeze Park in Staten Island, NY, Sunday and Monday, February 16th and 17th. The men finished as runners-up last season and look for their first NEC title since 2018.
- Tristan Smith claimed silver in the shot put in Rhode Island, with a 15.51m throw, with Greyson Golsa (15.29m) and Quincy Davis (13.59m) placing sixth and 12th respectively
- Willie Elliott finished second in the triple jump, jumping 13.28 in his final jump, and was 22nd in the long jump, jumping 5.95m at the URI Coaches Invitational
- Tristan Burke took third place in the 60m dash, running 6.94 at URI and was also third in the 200m with a run of 22.90
- Golda was the top Blue Devil in the weight throw, at 16.78m, good for fourth place
- Kyle Wimbish and Keith Townsend both cleared 1.93m in the high jump, to finish sixth and eighth at the meet hosted by URI
- Cole Robertson ran 23.39 in the 200m at URI to place sixth
- Micael Kraszwski finished 10th in the URI mile, running 4:26.38
- Jacob Ireland was 24th in the 800m at the BU meet, running 1:52.05 and Angelo Pisacreta was 13th with a throw of 14.90m
- Aiden Budge ran 1:56.61 in the 800m at the Scarlet & White, for 60th
- Samuel Whittaker (8:19.06) and James Sullivan (8:19.48) finished back-to-back, 44th and 45th, though two heats apart in the Scarlet & White 3000m, while Eddie Nicholas was 72nd in 8:31.69, in a field of 107
- Kenny Agwu ran 8.88 in the 60m hurdles preliminary, finishing 10th
- Ryan Scappaticci (2:37.64) and Joe Lauria (2:43.09) were fifth at 10th respectively in the 1000m at URI
- Michael Czarnecki (52.14), Robertson (51.63), William Dalles (54.15) and Jordan Jackson (52.51) combined to finish second in the 4x400 relay
