Rafter, Dana and Hurd Grab First Place Finishes at Wagner
Central Connecticut women's track and field shined in their first competition of the season, grabbing a number of first place finishes at the Wagner College Invitational.
Angie Rafter started off the Blue Devils day with a huge win in the 1 mile run. Rafter finished first with a time of 4:55.79, more than five seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The Blue Devils had a series of runners finishing high behind Rafter. Ashley Dana crossed the line third with a time of 5:02.97, and Brooke Morabito was right behind her, finishing fifth with a time of 5:05.52.
Kaitlyn Stevens landed herself a second place finish in the 3000 meter run, finishing with a 10:33.33 time just shy of gold.
CCSU grabbed another top ten finish in the women's 500 meter dash, as Magnalen Camara finished eighth with a 1:21.04 time.
After her third place finish in the mile, Dana grabbed gold of her own in the 800 meter run, finishing first with a time of 2:20.85.
The Blue Devils' final first place finish of the day came from rookie Alissa Hurd, who won the high jump with a 1.60m measurement.
The Blue Devils will be competing again next weekend, taking part in the TCNJ Indoor Invite in New York on January 15.
