Camara Earns Two Firsts at Jay Carisella Coaches Invite
Central Connecticut State women's track and field showed up and showed out at Friday's Jay Carisella Coaches Invite in Boston, compiling four total first place finishes as a team. Magnalen Camara earned two first place finishes individually Friday to lead CCSU.
TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES
- Camara earned her first gold of the day in the 400 meter race. The sophomore hustled to an impressive 58.74 finish.
- Camara had another strong outting in the 400m hurdles, finishing first again at 1:04.67.
- Ashley Dana earned CCSU's second victory of the day in the 1500m event, clocking in at 4:33.09. Dana also finished fourth in the 800m event with a 2:14.62 finish.
- Kaitlyn Stevens won the final gold for the women's side in the 5000m race. The senior finished first at 18:37.56.
- Kalesha Darisme finished fourth in the 100m finals with a 12.96 finish time. The senior went on to finish sixth in the 200m event as well, logging a 27.07 time.
- De'ja Salahuddin finished fifth in the 100m hurdles at 17.06.
TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
- Aaliyah Walker finished fourth in the triple jump at 10.51m earmed another top ten finish in the long jump event Friday, going for 4.82m which put her eighth.
- Sara Ovesny finished ninth in the shot put finals with a 10.88m toss.
