Women's Track & Field Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll
Central Connecticut women's track & field was selected third in the Northeast Conference's annual preseason poll released Thursday. The Blue Devils are coming off of an indoor NEC Championship and kick off the season today at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
CCSU placed fourth in the 2021 NEC Championships, but had a number of impressive individual performances. Angie Rafter was named Most Outstanding Track Performer for distance after a win in the 3000m steeplechase by nearly a minute. Rafter went on to take another gold in the 5000m run.
Brooke Morabito was crowned Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after securing a silver in the 5000m run behind Rafter.
