Rafter Named NEC Athlete of the Week
For the third time this outdoor track and field season, Central Connecticut State's Angie Rafter has been selected as Athlete of the Week by the Northeast Conference.
Rafter has taken home eight Athlete of the Week awards just this calendar year. This week's nod is just as deserving as the last. The senior put on a show at last weekend's Blue Devil Invite, winning the 1500 meter race in 4:29.16, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second place runner.
This continues the streak of Blue Devils as Athlete of the Week. During Rafter's one-week break from the award, teammate Ashley Dana earned the award.
Rafter, who has already set a number of school records this season, was a few seconds shy of doing so again Saturday. The senior, along with the rest of the Blue Devils, will be looking to set new records this weekend, competing at the NEC Championships in Emmitburg, Maryland.
