Women's Basketball Starts Four-Game Road Series at Saint Francis U
CCSU plays SFU Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team will go on a four-game road tilt starting with Saint Francis U on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Loretto, PA. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
The Blue Devils look to win their third straight after a buzzer beater win over Bryant. Junior Bruna Vila Artigues hit the game winning three from the top of the key just as time expired. She scored a career-high 13 points and added four assists. Sophomore Ashley Berube had an impressive all-around game. She recorded her fourth double-double with a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds along with five blocked shots. Senior Kiana Patterson posted 20 points making it the seventh time this season she has scored 20 or more in a game. With the win over Bryant Central moved to eighth place in the NEC putting them one step closer to post-season play.
The Red Flash have won three straight coming off a 83-72 road win over Mount St. Mary's. Jessica Kovatch led SFU with a season-high 34 points. She became the all-time leading scorer in the Northeast Conference for men's or women's basketball with 2,622 career points. Coutney Zezza recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds and Haley Thomas added 18 points for Saint Francis.

Series History • SFU holds a 30-13 advantage in the overall series against Central. In Loretto, CCSU has won just 5 out of the 22 contests. In the last four meetings, the teams have won two games each.
Last Time vs. Saint Francis • CCSU beat the Red Flash in the first contest on Jan. 19 in New Britain. The Blue Devils posted a season-high 73 points led by Kiana Patterson who scored 27. Central went on an 11-0 run holding SFU scoreless for over five minutes in the fourth quarter and won 73-62. Jessica Kovatch dropped 24 points for the Red Flash.
