The Central Connecticut women's basketball team opens a basketball double-header against Saint Francis U on Saturday afternoon in Detrick Gymnasium. The women tip off at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3:30 p.m. CCSU Basketball Legends will be recognized throughout the day, with a special recognition at halftime of the women's game. The game will be streamed live on www.NECFrontRow.com.

Central is still looking for its first Northeast Conference win after coming off a two-game road trip at Fairleigh Dickinson and Mount St. Mary's. Sophomore
Tiffany Slicklein played well on both sides of the ball against the Mount, finishing with a career-high 17 points, four rebounds, and career-high seven steals, but Central struggled from the floor connecting on just 20-of-60 (33.3 percent) shots and 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from deep. They fell to the Mountaineers 84-53 Monday.
The defending NEC champion Saint Francis U split its previous two contests defeating LIU Brooklyn 80-66 then falling to St. Francis Brooklyn 78-65. The team was predicted to finish second by the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Jessica Kovatch leads the league in scoring with 21.2 ppg, ranked 12th in the nation.

Series History • Today marks the 43rd match-up between the Blue Devils and the Red Flash. SFU holds a 30-12 advantage in the overall series and has won four out of the five last contests against Central. In New Britian, Central has beaten Saint Francis seven times.
