Women's Basketball Travels to Brooklyn for Important Match Up Against the Blackbirds
Central faces LIU on Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team takes on LIU Brooklyn in Brooklyn, NY for its last road game of the regular season. The Blue Devils look to earn a season sweep over the Blackbirds and break the three-way tiebreaker for the last spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament. Central fell to Mount St. Mary's on Monday 61-44. Down just six points with 4:20 to play, the Mountaineers outscored the Blue Devils 11-0 the rest of the quarter, earning the season sweep. Central had a 27-25 halftime lead and went cold shooting just 5-26 (19.2 percent) in the second half. Senior Andi Lydon had a career-high 4 blocks and sophomore Ashley Forker grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Seniors Kiana Patterson and Sydney Hines scored 10 points a piece.
After winning back-to-back games against two of the top three teams in the conference, LIU dropped a 71-54 decision to league-leader Robert Morris Monday night. Jeydah Johnson led LIU with 17 points and freshman Brandy Thomas recorded her 12th double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. RMU led most of the game and five straight points from Johnson to cut the game to 66-52 with 3:12 to go, but scoring slowed as RMU went onto win 71-54.
