Camden Musgrave of the Central Connecticut women's basketball team was tabbed the NEC Co-Rookie of the Week by the Northeast Conference on Tuesday afternoon. Musgrave helped the Blue Devils to another 2-0 week in Northeast Conference play as Central extended their current winning-streak to eight games. The Blue Devils are now 15-8 overall on the season and a league-leading 11-1 in the NEC.
Musgrave shot extremely well and efficiently once again for the Blue Devils while coming off the bench in both of Central Connecticut's victories last week. She finished the week shooting at a 60.0% clip, connecting on six-of-10 attempts from the floor.
Musgrave helped the Blue Devils maintain their first-place standing, and averaged 10.0 points per game in just 17.0 minutes per contest on the week. She accounted for seven points, three rebounds and two steals in a 60-49 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon.
The rookie made her presence felt even more so during the #NECWBB Game of the Week on ESPN3 Monday night against St. Francis Brooklyn. Musgrave made four of her five field goal attempts in the game, including a trio of three-pointers. She finished with 13 points in just 12 minutes of action against the Terriers. The native Marylander shot 50.0% (4-8) from downtown and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the game as CCSU ran its NEC record to 11-1 last week.
The award for Musgrave is the second time this season that she has been recognized by the NEC for her play as a freshman. She was previously named NEC Rookie of the Week for the week ending Jan. 26.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team will return to action as it begins its annual road trip to western PA next weekend. The first place Blue Devils will take on second place Robert Morris on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Moon Township, PA before traveling to Loretto, PA to face-off against Saint Francis U at 7 p.m on Monday night.
