Blue Devils Fall to Army

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Army by a score of 74-60 on Saturday afternoon at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils (4-6) were led by 16 points from freshman Camden Musgrave, but Army's (7-2) Jean parker led all players with a game-high 25.
The Blue Devils fell behind by 20 points with 2:42 left in the first half, but used an 11-2 closing run to cut the Black Knights lead to 39-28 right before halftime.
Early in the second half CCSU was able to close the gap to seven points, but Army answered with a run that put the Black Knights back up by double-digits for good.
Musgrave scored a career-high 16 points by making five baskets, including going three-of-five from behind the three-point arc. She was also three-of-five from the free throw line in the contest.
Sophomore Aleah Epps played a team-high 33 minutes and posted 12 points on six-of-ten shooting. She also had four rebounds, two assists, two steals and was not charged with a turnover.
Junior Nicole Ferguson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Epps and junior Kayla Miller followed Ferguson with four boards each.
Miller also scored seven points in the game, while senior Amanda Harrington and freshman Emma Stroyan each scored six. Senior Kaley Watras and redshirt freshman Lauren Wolosik both scored five points.
CCSU matched its season-low by committing just 11 turnovers in the game.
Army shot 56.3% (27-of-48) from the floor and also connected on 61.5% (8-of-13) from beyond the arc. CCSU shot 44.4% (24-of-54) for the game and was 33.3% (6-of-18) form distance.
Both teams were good at the free throw line with the Black Knights shooting 12-of-14 (85.7%) and the Blue Devils connecting on six-of-eight (75%) attempts.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Tuesday, December 30 against #21/22 Syracuse. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Carrier Dome.
