Head Coach Beryl Piper and the Central Connecticut women's basketball team will host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in Detrick Gymnasium for a 1 p.m. tip this afternoon. This is the second meeting this season between the first place Blue Devils (13-8, 9-1 NEC) and Mountaineers (7-14, 5-5 NEC). The Mount is the only team to hand CCSU a conference loss this season and the Blue Devils will look for revenge today on their home court. Today's game will be the first of a double-header as the Central men's team will play the Mount following the conclusion of the women's game.

Today's Game • The first place Blue Devils (13-8, 9-1 NEC) host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers (7-14, 5-5 NEC) for a Northeast Conference matchup in Detrick Gymnasium at 1 p.m. This is the 11th NEC contest for both the Blue Devils and Mountaineers as both teams enter week 6 of conference play.
Series History • The Mount holds a commanding lead over the Blue Devils in the all-time Division I series history, 22-10, including a 54-50 victory back on Jan. 12 this season. With the loss, CCSU is now 6-6 against MSM while under the direction of head coach Beryl Piper. Piper is 4-2 against the Mount in Detrick Gym.
Earlier This Season • This is the second meeting this season between the Blue Devils and Mountaineers. The Mount is the only team to hand Central a conference loss on the season and they did so with a 54-50 victory in Emmitsburgh back on Jan. 12. Junior TeJahne Malone led the way for CCSU, recording her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sarafina Arthur-Williams paced the Mountaineers with 11 points and nine boards.
Last Year's Meetings • The Blue Devils dropped both meetings with the Mountaineers last season, including a tough 64-62 loss at home on Jan. 27 and a 69-55 defeat in Emmitsburg on Feb. 3.
Scouting the Mount • Mount St. Mary's enters today's matchup with a 7-14 overall record and 5-5 mark in NEC play. They are coming off a 52-46 loss on the road to St. Francis Brooklyn last Monday, Feb. 2. MSM was led by Jacqueline Brewer who finished the game with 12 points and added five steals. Brewer is the leading scorer for the Mountaineers, averaging 13.4 points per contest in 35.8 minutes. She leads the team in three-point attempts with 112, connecting on 45 for a 40.2% average beyond the arc. Brewer did not play against the Blue Devils in the first meeting due to illness. Sarafina Arthur-Williams controls the glass for the Mountaineers and leads the team with 134 rebounds in 21 games on the year (6.4 rpg).
Last Time Out • Senior Kaley Watras and freshman Camden Musgrave both finished with 12 points as the Blue Devils defeated LIU Brooklyn 68-54 on Monday night in Brooklyn, NY. Central shot 52.2% (24-46) from the floor in the game, including a 64.7% (11-17) mark from the floor in the second half.
Six-Straight • Since the loss to the Mountaineers on Jan. 12, the Blue Devils have not lost and are currently on a six-game winning streak. Over the streak, CCSU is winning by an average of 10.7 points.
3's a Company • The Blue Devils now have three players averaging double-figures in Northeast Conference action. Junior TeJahne Malone leads the way, averaging 12.8 points in NEC play followed by freshman Camden Musgrave with 10.1 and senior Amanda Harrinton with 10.0 points per NEC contest.
Prior to NEC Play • The Blue Devils were just 4-7 in non-conference action prior to the start of NEC play. However, as of today, the seven CCSU losses came against teams that currently have a winning record. In fact, the combined overall record of the seven non-conference teams that beat CCSU is 103-53.
