Women's Hoop Plays SHU Monday at 5 PM
The Blue Devils and Pioneers will tip-off at 5 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team travels to intrastate rival Sacred Heart on Monday afternoon forits second Northeast Conference game of the season. The Blue Devils (5-7, 1-0 NEC) and Pioneers (6-5, 1-0 NEC) are scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip-off at the William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, CT.
Series History • The Pioneers hold a 25-8 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs. Head Coach Beryl Piper has a 6-10 record against Sacred Heart in her career. The 16 meetings with the Pioneers are the most against any program for Piper. The Blue Devils are also 3-5 against the Pioneers at the Pitt Center under Piper.
CCSU in NEC Openers • Saturday's victory over Fairleigh Dickinson marked the first win in an NEC opener for the Blue Devils since the 2008-09 season. That year CCSU went on to finish second in the NEC regular season standings and earn a spot in the Women's Postseason NIT.
29-Point Win • The Blue Devils opened Northeast Conference play with a 29-point victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. The victory featured contributions from numerous players with all 13 Blue Devils seeing action. The 82-53 victory marked a season-high in points scored for CCSU, while the 29-point victory was also a season-best.
Ferguson Drops 18 • Junior Nicole Ferguson scored a career-high 18 points in just 20 minutes of action off the bench on Saturday. Ferguson connected on five field goals, three three-pointers and was five-of-five at the free throw line in the contest.
Miller and Wolosik • Junior Kayla Miller and redshirt freshman Lauren Wolosik were extremely efficient shooting the ball on Saturday. Miller was six-of-nine from the floor, while Wolosik was six-of-10 from the field, three-of-six from beyond the arc and one-of-two at the line. Miller finished with 12 points and Wolosik posted 16.
4-0 • The Blue Devils are 4-0 this season when scoring 70 or more points.
