The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosts America East member Maine at Detrick Gymnasium on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The Blue Devils (4-2) have won three straight games coming into today's action, while the Black Bears (3-3) have won back-to-back games including a 69-64 overtime victory against ACC member Boston College on Sunday. The Blue Devils current three game winning streak has been against the America East with CCSU beating UMass Lowell, Vermont and New Hampshire over the last 12 days.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Below are notes on tonight's game between the Blue Devils and Black Bears:
Series History • Maine holds a 9-3 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs. These teams have not met since opening night of the 2011-12 season. The Blue Devils won that game 53-48 at Detrick Gymnasium. CCSU also won the previous season (62-57) in Orono, ME. The last victory in the series for the Black Bears came in the opening game of the 2009-10 season, a 61-58 victory.
Five Against the AE • Maine is CCSU's fifth America East opponent this season. The Blue Devils beat UMass Lowell, Vermont and New Hampshire and fell to Hartford.
Miller Drops 20 • Junior Kayla Miller became the first Blue Devil to reach 20 points this season and the first since Jessica Babe scored 22 against Wagner on Feb. 24, 2014. Miller's 20 points set a new career-high. She also set new career-highs for field goals made (7) and minutes played (36) in the game.
When Up at the Half • The Blue Devils are 4-0 this season when leading at halftime.
On the Glass • All 11 Blue Devils that played against New Hampshire grabbed at least one rebound as CCSU dominated the glass 43-31. The Blue Devils pulled down 16 offensive boards compared to eight by UNH.
