Krell Named Track Athlete of the Week
Senior John Krell takes the honor after his performance at the Penn Relays this week.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team keeps the NEC Track Athlete of the Week award in its possesion as senior John Krell earns the honor this week for his performance at the Penn Relays on Thursday. Krell keeps the honor that sophomore Brian Biekert won last week.
The CCSU senior took over the Northeast Conference lead in the 10K in what was his final tuneup for the league's championship meet. Krell clocked in at 30:53.31 while competing in the Penn Relays Championship Race. The time, which is nearly 15 seconds faster than the IC4A Championship qualifying standard, moved Krell past Wagner's Zachary Spector and into the top spot of the NEC performance list.
Krell and the rest of the Blue Devils are set to return to the track this weekend, May 4-5, in West Long Branch, NJ at Monmouth for the NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
