The CCSU men's track and field team will travel to Landover, MD Saturday for the NEC Championships.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team will hit the road for the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, and continue through Sunday, February 10.
Last season, the Blue Devils tied for third place with LIU Brooklyn (108). Monmouth claimed the NEC Champion title, scoring 170 and was followed by Sacred Heart who scored just eight points higher than CCSU with 116.
Despite coming away with the bronze, Central boasted three championships in individual events. Junior Colby Delbene took the gold in the one mile run as a sophomore, completing the race in 4:13.08. The Blue Devils also topped the distance medley relay field as the team, made up of Delbene, sophomores Joey Farrington and Patrick Hubbell and former senior Robert Weston, crossed the finish line in 10:08.25.
So far this season, the Blue Devils have performed well in each of their meets, boasting three NEC weekly awards. Radden and sophomore Brian Biekert have earned NEC Track Athlete of the Week and freshman Joseph Gioielli was tabbed NEC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 29.
