Radden Tabbed NEC Athlete of the Week
Senior Aaron Radden named NEC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Army Crowell Open on Jan. 5.
Central Connecticut senior Aaron Radden was tabbed as the Northeast Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Army Crowell Open on Jan. 5, the league announced Tuesday.
Radden opened the 2013 season with a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash in a field of 59 competitors. He completed the event with a time of 6.86, .07 seconds faster than in his 2012 NEC performance in which he placed second.
Radden's outstanding performance at Army makes him the first NEC sprinter to have surpassed the 60m qualifying standard for the 2013 IC4A Championships in Boston, MA.
In 2012, Radden set the CCSU record in the 55m (6.36), the 60m (6.82) and the 200m (20.96) events. He took first place in the 200m at the NEC Indoor Championships and qualified for IC4A competition with his time of 21.74. He broke the NEICAAA record for the 60m with his time of 6.82 at the New England Indoor Championships while placing first in the 200m with a time of 21.02.
This season, Radden looks to earn his third NEC title in the 60m and also defend his 200-meter NEC Indoor Championship title. Radden and the rest of the Blue Devils return to action Saturday, January 12 at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, CT.
