Marin Named NEC Field Athlete And Rookie Of The Week
Rookie posted top performances in the NEC in javelin and discus
Central Connecticut State freshman Maya Marin was named the Northeast Conference Track & Field Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week on Wednesday. She was joined by teammate Mya Morabito as an NEC Prime Performer.
Marin opened her collegiate outdoor career at the Black & Gold Invitational where she recorded a pair of top-six finishes and recorded the top performances in the NEC this spring. She placed third in the javelin, with a top throw of 40.17m, which ranks 170th in the NCAA and 38th among freshmen. Marin placed sixth in the discus, with a throw of 40.96m. javelin effort.
Morabito was recognized for her effort in the 800m at the Raleigh Relays where she posted a time of 2:17.15, which ranks second in the NEC.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday, Aparil 5th at the UMass Invitational.
