
Women's Track & Field Shines At 2025 Opener
Blue Devils win four times, led by Stewart with two victories.
The Central Connecticut indoor track and field team opened the New Year on Friday at the Wagner Shootout. The event was hosted at Ocean Breeze Track Complex, the site of the 2025 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Blue Devils return to action on Wednesday, when the throwers take part in the Bryant Throws in Rhode Island.
- Juliana Cancellieri won the 3000m at 10:09.89
- Alissa Hurd won the high jump, placing atop the podium with a jump of 1.55m, and teammate Erin Egan placed fourth at 1.45m
- Wenesha Steward led a 1-2-3 sweep in the shotput with a throw of 12.02m, followed by Sara Ovesny (11.47m) and Payton Lowe (11.14m)
- Stewart also won the weight throw with a throw of 114.55m, with Ovesny second at 12.46m
- The Blue Devil put four runners into the finals of the 60m hurdles, and Jasmine Oganda captured bronze at 9.37 to lead the back
- Nuchwara Inthasit took silver in the 60m with a run of 7.91, shaving .14 off of her prelims run
- Inthasit took fifth in the 200m at 26.67
- Four Blue Devils were in the top-seven of the 800, led by Mya Morabito's 2:23.26 in third place and Kaylee Gravel in fourth at 2:24.82
- Kayla Logan ran to a bronze in the 400m with a 1:08.98 effort, while Kyrah Smith placed fifth with a 1:03.56
- Alexandra Wdwards ran 1:27.23 to capture fifth in the 500m
- Morabito clocked 5:19.29 to take fifth in the mile
- The Blue Devils were second and third in the 4x400 relay, with Kayla Logan, Shania McCall, Inthasit and Edwards running 4:18.30 to capture silver
- Haily Sosa (2.85m) and Mia Savino (2.70m) were third and fourth in the pole vault
- Abigal Burgess (5.12m) and Egan5.09m) took third and fourth in the long jump
