Women's Soccer Shuts Out Delaware St. 5-0

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team kept its momentum when they defeated first-year Northeast Conference women's soccer member Delaware St 5-0.

Key Moments:

In the 8th minute, Aoife Horgan unleashed a shot into the top left corner, from Inzerillo which gave the Blue Devils an early 1-0 lead.
Giavanna Inzerillo, the senior captain, scored another goal in the 14th minute off a cross from Horgan and extended the lead to two.
Inzerillo scored again in the 23rd minute, off two touch passes from Horgan and Gia Edwards. This made it 3-0 Blue Devils going into the half.
Freshman Emma Radoncic added to the Blue Devils' lead, scoring her second goal of the season in the 48th minute from teammate Daniela De Souza.
De Souza sealed the Blue Devils' scoring parade with a penalty kick in the 87th minute.

Numbers to Know:

4 - Giavanna Inzerillo had another outstanding performance, scoring multiple goals for the fourth time this season.
13 - Inzerillo continues to climb the CCSU record books, and national rankings with 13 goals this season.
5 - Aoife Horgan is also having a standout season, with five goals, a career-best.

Notes:

The Blue Devils started hot scoring three of their first, first-half goals in conference play.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team came into this game 2nd in goals, points, and assists per game in the Northeast Conference.
Inzerillo came into the match first in total points (24), goals (11), and goals per game (1.00). She was ranked seventh nationally in goals and 4th nationally in goals per game (1.00). Inzerillo now stands at 13 goals this season (3rd in single-season goals scored at CCSU), has racked up 28 points, and has scored half of the Blue Devils goals this season (26).
All three goalkeepers shared time on the pitch today and collected 5 total saves to earn the clean sheet.
The Blue Devils start 5-0 in conference play for the second straight season.
