
Inzerillo Nets Two in a 4-3 Blue Devil Loss

CCSU women's soccer was unable to hold on to a two-goal lead as they fell to the Brown University Bears 4-3, Sunday afternoon. Gia Inzerillo netted two goals for the Blue Devils, her second multi-goal game of the year.

KEY MOMENTS
The Bears struck first when Joy Okonye broke past the CCSU defense and scored on a touch pass from teammate Brittany Raphino at the 11-minute mark.
It took the Blue Devils just nine seconds to even things up at one, when senior Captain Gia Inzerillo scores her third goal of the season for Central off a blocked shot of her own.
A penalty kick was awarded to Central Connecticut in the 31st minute after Blue Devil midfielder CC Rosario collided with the Bears goalkeeper and defender in the box. Inzerillo promptly sent the PK into the back of the net to give Central a 2-1 lead that would last the remainder of the first half.
CCSU defender Charlotte Simmons booted a long pass to Abbie Burgess who beat a Brown defender and goalkeeper to score Central's third goal of the game. Burgess gave the Blue Devils a 3-1 lead with 43 minutes left to play.
In the 75th minute, Brown cut the deficit to one off a shot and save that was cleaned up by Bear forward Miya Grant-Clavijo for the goal.
Brown netted the equalizer in the 81st minute when Miya Grant-Clavijo swopped in and scored off a header from her teammate that hit the crossbar. The goal tied the game at three a piece.
With three minutes left to play Brown forward Kira Maguire sent a rifle in the back left corner of the net to score the game-winning goal.
