
Inzerillo (again) Named NEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Central Connecticut’s Giavanna Inzerillo was named the Northeast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Inzerillo has been on fire since the season started. She scored two goals in the Blue Devils' opening victory to be named the first NEC Player of The Week of this season. A week later she was awarded again when she netted two for her second multi-goal game of the season.
On Thursday night, Inzerillo showed no signs of cooling off. She posted three goals and one assist to rally the Central Connecticut women's soccer team to a 5-2 win over Fairfield. She tallied seven points in the victory and her brilliance has again been recognized by the NEC as Inzerillo, on Monday, was named the Player of the Week for the third time this season. The senior captain climbed to 7th in the nation for total goals after Thursday's match vs. Fairfield.
The Goals:
- Inzerillo brought the Blue Devils level 30 minutes into the contest when Abbey Burgess put a corner kick to the near post and Inzerillo headed it home
- Inzerillo put the Blue Devils on top with 17:07 to play, intercepting a back pass and sliding her shot along the goal line and into the back of the net
- The senior forward secured her first career hat trick on a looping 35+ yard bomb from the right wing that sailed over the keeper high into the far post netting to give the Blue Devils a 4-2 lead in the 73rd minute.
The Blue Devils travel to Loretto, PA to open NEC play on Sunday, September 17 at Saint Francis.
