Inzerillo Named 2x NEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Central Connecticut’s Giavanna Inzerillo was named the Northeast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week following her performance Sunday afternoon vs Brown
The Blue Devils trailed 1-0 early on as Inzerillo sent in a game tying goal, her third of the season. Charlotte Simmons sent a long pass to junior forward Abbie Burgess who got a touch on the ball that led Inzerillo for a break. The senior captain corralled the ball on the left side of the field where she was able get into the box and put a shot on goal. Inzerillos first attempt was blocked by a defender, but she kept with it and quickly got a foot on it to send it in the back left corner of the net just out of the keepers reach.
A penalty kick was awarded to Central Connecticut in the 31st minute after Blue Devil midfielder CC Rosario collided with the Bears goalkeeper and defender in the box. Inzerillo promptly sent the PK into the back of the net to give Central a 2-1 lead.
Inzerillo nets two for her second multi-goal game of the season. Following both goals Inzerillo immediately pointed to her teammates that set her up to score.
The Blue Devils are home vs Holy Cross Thursday night, August 31st at 6PM
