Senior Jessica Babe was named Second Team All-NEC and to the NEC All-Defensive Team
Central Connecticut women's basketball senior Jessica Babe was named Second Team All-Northeast Conference on Thursday morning. She also garnered a spot on the NEC All-Defensive Team after finishing second in the league in steals per game. Both honors were announced in the conference's annual release of postseason awards and were voted on by the NEC's head coaches.
Babe finished the 2013-14 season among the top-12 in the NEC in points, rebounds, assists and steals. She also led the Blue Devils in each of those categories.
Earlier this season, Babe earned CoSida Capital One Academic All-District First Team honors for her performance on the court and in the classroom. She was also a Choice Hotels/NEC Player of the Week selection on Dec. 9.
Babe capped her career with an exceptional senior season in which she averaged a career-high 13.1 points per game. She also recorded a career-high 116 assists and assist-turnover ratio. In addition, Babe averaged 6.5 rebounds per game to lead CCSU for the third straight season and recorded 65 steals.
Her 116 assists this season rank as the third highest single-season total in program history. The 2013-14 season marked the third straight 100+ assist campaign for Babe.
Babe finishes her career with 990 points, 658 rebounds, 377 assists and 233 steals. In CCSU's Division I era she ranks 16th in points, ninth in rebounds, third in assists and third in steals for her career.
In addition, Babe posted the first triple-double in CCSU women's basketball history earlier this season at Rider. She finished that contest with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
