Here are some notes on the Blue Devils heading into Monday's game:
Up Next • The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference play with a pair of games against Robert Morris and Saint Francis U this weekend. The Colonials visit Detrick on Saturday, Jan. 4 and the Red Flash travel to New Britain for a Monday night game on Jan. 6.
Series History • Hofstra holds a 7-4 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs. The last meeting came two years ago when the Blue Devils played in the New York Life Holiday Invitational at Hofstra. The Pride won that meeting in Dec. 2011 by a score of 67-60. Prior to that, CCSU last played Hofstra in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Triple-Double • Senior Jessica Babe put together one of the best statistical games in CCSU women's basketball history to register the program's first triple-double. Babe posted 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the game. She also contributed four steals on defense.
Quiet December • The Blue Devils have played just once (Dec. 21 at Rider) over the last three weeks. Today will be CCSU's fourth December game. The four games are the fewest in December for CCSU since the 1988-89 season. The Blue Devils also played four games in the 1988-89 and 1987-88 seasons.
UMass Lowell • CCSU's scheduled game with UMass Lowell was postponed because the River Hawks were unable to travel to New Britain as a result of the winter weather on Dec. 15. A rescheduled date and time have yet to be determined.
Last Game • The Blue Devils fell to Rider on Saturday, Dec. 21 by a score of 61-58. The Blue Devils had a halftime lead slip away despite a triple-double from senior Jessica Babe. Babe posted 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals. Junior Amanda Harrington also had a strong game with 13 points and eight rebounds.
NEC Player of the Week • Senior Jessica Babe was named Choice Hotels/Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon (12/9). Babe sparked the Blue Devils to a double-digit margin of victory in a pair of non-conference games last week with a career-high 24 points on Sunday at Vermont and 16 points against Siena on Dec. 3. Babe finished the week averaging 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She shot 50.0% (11-22) from the field, 85.7% (6-7) from three and 75.0% (12-16) from the free throw line over the two games.
Milestones • Senior Jessica Babe flew past 300 career assists against Rider. Babe contributed 10 assists and along the way became the 10th CCSU player to record 300 career assists.
