The Central Connecticut women's basketball team will visit Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils (9-13, 3-9 NEC) will tip-off with the first place Colonials (14-9, 10-2 NEC) at 1 p.m. at the Sewall Center.
Below are a few notes on the Blue Devils heading into Saturday's game:
Today • The Blue Devils (9-13, 3-9 NEC) visit the Colonials of Robert Morris (14-9, 10-2 NEC) as CCSU looks to climb into the Northeast Conference Tournament field over the final six games of the regular season. The Colonials have already punched their ticket to the playoffs and at 10-2 in NEC play are the front runners for the tournament's top seed. Due to LIU holding a head-to-head tiebreaker the Blue Devils are technically two games out of a playoff spot entering today's action.
Six Games Left • With six games left in the regular season the NEC Standings are beginning to spread out, but the playoff field is far from set. Five teams are still separated by just one-game in places two-through-five and Wagner, LIU and CCSU are separated by just two games in seventh, eighth and ninth.
Series History • The Colonials hold a 17-12 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs. Robert Morris earned a 61-59 victory over the Blue Devils earlier this season in the NEC opener for both squads. Under head coach Beryl Piper the Blue Devils are 2-9 vs. the Colonials and 0-5 against RMU at the Sewall Center.
Tough Stretch • Today's game is the fourth of five road games in a three week stretch for the Blue Devils. CCSU will conclude the six-game stretch on Monday night at Saint Francis U. The Blue Devils played their lone home game of the three week period on Monday night against LIU Brooklyn. CCSU's will play three of the final four games of the season at home with the lone road game being at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, March 1.
