Blue Devils Fall at Bryant

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Bryant on Saturday afternoon in Smithfield, RI. The Blue Devils (9-12, 3-8 NEC) will return to action on Monday night at Detrick Gymnasium. Bryant (12-10, 7-4 NEC) earned an 81-50 victory behind a quality team shooting performance.
Freshman Aleah Epps scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Blue Devils. Epps came off the bench to spark CCSU late in the first half with nine points. Her play helped the Blue Devils climb back into the game after a slow start to the first half.
The Bulldogs broke the game open with a 44-point second half. Bryant shot 55.2% in the second period, while limiting the Blue Devils to 25 points and an 18.4% shooting mark from the field.
The Blue Devils shot just 23.9% (16-67) for the game, while the Bulldogs connected on 51.7% (30-58).
The Bulldogs were led by 19 points from senior Naana Ankoma-Mensa. She also had a game-high 13 rbeounds.
Sophomore Nicole Ferguson connected for 11 points on four-of-nine shooting from the field. The performance matched her career-high, which she has now reached three times this season.
Senior Jessica Babe contributed six steals of CCSU's 15 steals in the game. Junior Kaley Watras had six of the Blue Devils' 11 assists with Babe recording four.
The Blue Devils return to action on Monday night at Detrick Gym against LIU Brooklyn. That game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and can be seen live on NECFrontRow.com.
