Women's Basketball Fifth in NEC Preseason Poll
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team was selected fifth in the 2013 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team was picked fifth in the 2013 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Blue Devils finished the 2012-13 season in a tie for fourth place and were the #5 seed in last season's NEC Tournament.
CCSU finished last season with a 16-14 record and a 10-8 mark in NEC action. The Blue Devils finished the regular season tied with Saint Francis U and Mount St. Mary's for fourth place.
The NEC's coaches selected Robert Morris as the preseason favorite, but the top of the poll was wide open with the top-four teams each receiving at least one first place vote. The Colonials received five first place votes to lead the field.
Sacred Heart was tapped second with three first place votes, Mount St. Mary's third with one first place vote and Saint Francis U fourth with the final first place vote.

In addition to the preseason poll the 2013 Preseason All-NEC Team was announced. The five player squad was comprised of Naana Ankoma-Mensa (Bryant), Sydney Henderson (Mount St. Mary's), Artemis Spanou (Robert Morris), Gabrielle Washington (Sacred Heart) and Ali Williams (Saint Francis U).
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team opens the 2013-14 season on Nov. 8 at UCF and plays again two days later at South Florida. The home opener is scheduled for Nov. 13 against Rhode Island. All women's basketball homes games are streamed live on NECFrontRow.com.
