The Central Connecticut women's basketball team opened practice for the 2013-14 season on Tuesday afternoon at Detrick Gym. Beryl Piper enters her seventh season as head coach of the Blue Devils with a 15 player roster that features 11 returning student-athletes, including a four member senior class.
The Blue Devils finished last season with a 16-14 overall record and a 10-8 mark in Northeast Conference action. CCSU finished in a three way tie for fourth place and entered the NEC Tournament as the #5 seed.
Junior Kaley Watras enters the season as the Blue Devils leading returning scorer at 9.1 points per game. Senior Jessica Babe is the team's leading returning rebounder (7.2). Babe also led the team in assists last season with 3.6 per game.
Babe and senior Jaleen Thomas will serve as captains this season.
