The Central Connecticut women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Rider. The Blue Devils (5-3) have not played since an 82-68 victory over Vermont on Dec. 8. The Broncs (3-5) are the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent that CCSU will face this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium on the Rider campus.
Today • The Blue Devils (5-3) travel to Rider (3-5) for a non-conference women's basketball game. The Blue Devils and Broncs met last season in New Britain with CCSU pulling out a dramatic 62-61 victory in overtime.
Up Next • The Blue Devils will host Hofstra on Dec. 30 to close out non-conference play. Northeast Conference action begins on Jan. 4 with Robert Morris visiting Detrick Gym and on Jan. 6 Saint Francis U will travel to New Britain.
Series History • The Broncs hold a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series, but the Blue Devils won last season's meeting. vs. the MAAC • The Blue Devils are 1-0 this season against members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a victory over Siena on Dec. 3 at Detrick Gym. Head Coach Beryl Piper is 5-0 against teams from the MAAC in her career. She has victories over St. Peter's, Rider and three against Siena, including this season.
UMass Lowell • The Blue Devils scheduled game with UMass Lowell was postponed because the River Hawks were unable to travel to New Britain as a result of the winter weather. A rescheduled date and time have yet to be determined.
