Women's Basketball Drops Road Game at Mount
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Bryant.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Mount St. Mary's by a score of 69-55 on Monday night in Emmitsburg, MD. The Blue Devils (9-11, 3-7 NEC) were led by a combined 36 points from seniors Jessica Babe and Lauren Arbogast. The Mountaineers (11-11, 6-4 NEC) were led by 30 points from Jenn Carney.
Babe finished the game with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 at the line. Arbogast finished with 17 points on 6-of-15 and 5-of-6 at the free throw line. Both players finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
Both teams struggled offensively early in the first half, but a late surge gave the Mount a 35-27 lead at the break. The Mountaineers were 11-of-12 at the free throw line in the first half and 11-of-30 from the field.
The Mount built a double-digit lead, which it held for most of the second half, on strong three-point shooting performance. The Mountaineers were 6-of-7 from three in the second half and finished the game 8-of-13 from behind the arc.
The Blue Devils outscored the Mountaineers 30-24 in the paint, but CCSU was just 1-of-15 on three-point attempts in the game. From the field the Blue Devils posted a 33.3% (17-of-51) mark.
Jenn Carney came off the bench to post a career-high 30 points in the game for the Mount. The Mountaineer's scorer 43 of their 69 points off the bench.
