Men's Track & Field Second at UMASS
Nick Lindblom claimed the 400m hurdles.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field team placed second at the UMASS Invitational on Saturday posting 97.50 points. Central edged third place American International (75) and fell short of meet champion UMASS (125). The meet was hosted by UMASS in Amherst, MA.
Junior Nick Lindblom earned gold in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.07. Lindblom also ran in the 110m hurdles and recorded a time of 15.63, good for second.
Junior sprinter Aaron Radden claimed the 100m winning gold with a 10.94 time. Also, placing first in the 1,500m with a personal best 3:56.13 time was freshman Brian Biekert. Junior Ben Lazarus placed sixth in the 1,500m with a personal best mark (3:59.80).
Freshman Jamal Fruster had the second best time in the 400m with a personal best mark of 49.29, he also placed first in section two of the 200m (22.42), also a personal best. Senior Elijah Boles sprinted to a sixth place finish in the first flight of the 200m with a personal best 22.35 time.
Freshman Matt Walker claimed the 10,000m crossing the line at 32:14.53.
The Blue Devils' 4x400m relay team capped a second place finish. Junior Dan Hopper, Fruster, Lindblom and freshman Joey Farrington ran the event in 3:21.23.
In the field for the Blue Devils, sophomores Michael Ficorilli (13.76) and Leonardo Davidson (13.65) placed fourth and fifth respectively in the third flight of the shot put event.
Senior Matt Berube finished fourth in the second flight of the long jump event with a 6.73m jump and fourth in flight number two of the triple jump (13.87m).
Ficorilli also stamped a third place finish in the third flight of the hammer throw (41.84m). Senior Nick Trifone found himself in a three-way tie for fifth after his 1.86m mark in the high jump event.
Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic
Senior Anthony Gonsalves, freshman Andy Pullaro, and junior Jon Krell represented Central Connecticut at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. The meet was hosted by Bucknell and was held at the Christy-Matthewson Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, PA.
Gonsalves placed fourth in section two of the 3,000m steeplechase. His 9:24.16 time was just 4.14 off of the section winner.
In the 5,000m, Pullaro came away with a sixth place finish in the event's third section. He crossed the line at 14:53.76.
Krell ran the 10,000m in 31:25.62 which was good for 29th in his section.
