Radden Captures School Record at UConn
The Blue Devils were led by junior Aaron Radden who posted a school record in the 55 meter dash at the UConn Winter Invitational.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track & field team had an impressive showing at the University of Connecticut Winter Invitational. The University of Connecticut won the invitational with a score of 90 followed by second place Southern Connecticut (33.33), and third place Central (18.60). The event took place on a warm winter Saturday in Storrs, CT on January 7.
Headlining the men's 55 meter dash was Blue Devil Junior Aaron Radden who set the Central Connecticut school record with an impressive time of 6.36. The record was previously 6.44 held by Conroy Davis in 1992, a record that stood for 20 years. Also competing in the even was junior Dan hopper who finished sixth (6.68) and senior Harry Lewis who finished eighth (6.74).
Leading the pack for the Blue Devils in the 400 meter dash was junior Nick Lindblom who clocked in at 51.88, good for sixth place. Sophomore Ryan Budd placed seventh (52.83).
In the 600 meter run, Joey Farrington and senior Mike Waterbury placed sixth (1:23.60) and seventh (1:28.04) respectively.
Claiming the third place seat in the 1000 meter run was Colby Delbene who finished with a time of 2:30.10. Senior Robert Weston finished fifth (2:33.04).
Senior Sam Alexander notched a fourth place finish (4:19.26) in the 1 mile run. Junior Craig Hunt ran the event in 4:19.83, finishing right behind Alexander in the fifth spot.
Central's 'A' team finished third (5:07.13) in the 2200 sprint medley.
Senior Nick Trifone jumped his way to a share of fourth place (1.90m) in the high jump event. Also finishing tied for fourth in the event was Trifone's Blue Devil teammate freshman Greg Andrade with the same 1.90m mark.
In the long jump, senior Matt Berube finished with a distance of 6.73m, good for fifth place.
Berube was the runner-up in the triple jump posting a distance of 13.82m. Junior Keith Boyd-Carter placed fourth (13.57m) in the event and Andrade fifth (13.49m).
The Blue Devils were led in the throwing events by Senior Rashad Williams who placed second (15.91m) in the weight throw and fourth (15.98m) in the shot put.
Central Connecticut will be back in action again on Saturday, January 14 at the Yale Invitational. The event will take place at Yale in New Haven, CT.
