Final Day of New Englands, Men's T&F 4th
Aaron Radden highlighted the meet for the Blue Devils winning both the 200m and 60m events.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field team finished fourth on the final day of the New England Championship. The meet hosts all Division one, two, and three track teams in New England with over 40 teams competing on each side. UCONN Claimed the championship with 118.5 points, Rhode Island came in second with 94 points, Southern Connecticut registered a third place finish with 71 points, Central turned in 55.5 points, and UMASS Lowell rounded out the top five with 49 points.
Junior Aaron Radden highlighted the meet for the Blue Devils winning both the 200m and 60m events. His 60m time of 6.82 and 200m time of 21.02 earned him gold in both events. The junior's semifinal time of 6.81 broke his own school record in the 60m. Radden also broke his own school record in the 200m, previously 21.03. He is now ranked 12th in the nation in the 200m.
Central's 4x800 relay squad added a runner up finish in the event posting a 7:40.36 mark.
Senior Sam Alexander and junior Craig Hunt both claimed top three spots in the 3,000m. Alexander won gold in the event turning in a time of 8:17.58 breaking his own school record by four seconds (8:21.50). Finishing just seconds behind Alexander was Hunt who registered a 8:21.01 mark. It was Hunt who earned the top spot in the 5,000m running the event in a speedy time of 14:30.27. Hunt set new personal best times in both events. Both runners have qualified for IC4A's.
Freshman Greg Andrade finished tied for seventh in the high jump posting a height of 1.94m. This height is a new personal best mark for the freshman.
In the 800m, seniors Mike Waterbury (1:52.72) and Robert Weston (1:54.44) both qualified for the IC4A's. The 4x400 relay team of freshman Jamal Fruster, Lindblom, sophomore Ryan Budd, and junior Dan Hopper also qualified (3:18.71).
The Blue Devils will be back in action on March 3rd and 4th at the IC4A's/ECAC's.
