On Final Day, Central Excels at Yale
Senior Michael Waterbury had an impressive showing on day two of the Giegengack Invite.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field team concluded competition at the Giegengack Inviational. Yale University hosted the two-day unscored event at Coxe Cage in New Haven, CT. The Blue Devils had an impressive first day of the meet on Friday, February 3rd and wrapped up day two on Saturday, February 4th.
A pair of Blue Devils claimed runner-up positions on day two of the meet. Senior Michael Waterbury placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:54.29 and freshman Jamal Fruster crossed the line at 49.47 in the 400m. Both runners surpassing their personal best times the events.
Sophomore Nick Lindblom broke the CCSU school record for the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.41. Lindblom held the previous record of 8.48 set this year at the Great Dane Classic. Placing fifth in the 60m hurdles was freshman Jordan Watkins with a time of 8.58. Lindblom also ran a personal best 50.05 in the 400m placing fifth.
The distance events were highlighted by sophomore Craig Hunt who placed fourth in the one-mile with a personal best time of 4:17.88. In the 1,000m, freshman Patrick Hubbell capped an eighth place finish with a time of 2:32.35, also a personal best.
In the field, sophomore Leonardo Davidson threw the shot 14.10m and earned the sixth place seat. He placed 10th in the weight throw (13.73m).
The Blue Devils will be back in action at the Northeast Conference Championships on February 11th at Prince George's Complex in Landover, MD.
