Former Blue Devil Severino Joins Bridgeport Bluefish

Former Central Connecticut baseball standout Dominic Severino joined the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League it was announced on August 23. The Atlantic League is the highest level of independent baseball and Severino joins the team after playing for the Old Orchard Beach Surge of the Empire Professional Baseball League.
Severino opened the season in the Surge's starting rotation before moving into a relief role. He pitched in 15 games, including five starts. He posted a 3-3 record with three saves. In 35.0 innings pitched, he posted a 35-9 strikeout-walk ratio and had a 4.11 earned run average.
Severino joins the Bluefish, who are currently in second-place in the Liberty Division, just one game behind the Long Island Ducks in the overall standings. The Atlantic League is at the highest level of professional baseball other than Major League Baseball. More than 40 percent of the players in the league have major league service time and the league averages more than 50 player contract sales to MLB organizations each year.
In four seasons with the Blue Devils, Severino was a standout two-way player. In 164 career games, he batted .268 and scored 70 runs with 64 runs batted in and eight homeruns. On the mound, he appeared in 39 games, including 18 starts. He won seven games, posted four saves and recorded 90 strikeouts in 132.2 innings.
