Baseball Sweeps Weekly Conference Honors
The Blue Devils claim Northeast Conference Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week.
The Central Connecticut baseball team collected a trio of Northeast Conference weekly awards it was announced Monday. Senior Tyler Coleman was named the Player of the Week, while Cody Brown was named Pitcher of the Week and freshman Chris Kanios was named Rookie of the Week as the Blue Devils collected a pair of wins last week.
Coleman reached base at least twice and scored a run in each of his three starts. The CCSU centerfielder produced a .500 on-base percentage while hitting .417 (5-for-12) with one double, two RBI and four runs scored. He was instrumental during the Blue Devils' wins over Marist and Hartford. Coleman went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a mid-week win over America East member Hartford. The senior connected on a one-out single in the first and eventually came around to score the game's first run. He added another run in the third frame of the 6-4 victory. Facing Marist in Annapolis on Saturday, Coleman put the Blue Devils in line for an extra inning victory. He led off the top of the tenth by singling and proceeded to score the eventual game-winning run on a RBI groundout. Coleman drove in a pair of runs on Sunday against Navy.
