Northeast Conference Baseball Championship Begins Thursday
The Blue Devils play Wagner on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
Central Connecticut is set to face Wagner at the 2017 Northeast Conference Baseball Championship on Thursday, May 25, at 4:00 p.m. at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. The Blue Devils earned the #2 seed, while the Seahawks will enter as the #3 seed. Fans can watch the action live, for free, on NEC Front Row.
CCSU concluded the regular season with a 33-20 overall record and a 21-7 mark in conference play, both league-best win totals.
NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
The Blue Devils are playing in the NEC Tournament for the 15th time and have an all-time record of 24-22. CCSU has won four NEC titles (2002, 2003, 2004, 2010) and is the last school other than Sacred Heart or Bryant to win an NEC championship.
Bryant enters the tournament as the top seed for the fifth straight season. The Bulldogs went 29-24 overall and 20-6 in NEC play. Wagner (21-26, 13-12 NEC) and Sacred Heart (21-34, 14-13 NEC) round out the championship field.
The Blue Devils have posted an 8-6 mark this season against the rest of the championship field. CCSU split a four-game series against each Bryant and Wagner, while going 4-2 against Sacred Heart.
The Bulldogs and Pioneers play at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday to open the championship.
